Experience a rare staging of Inside the Island, the powerful Australian drama by acclaimed playwright Louis Nowra, presented with the author’s express permission. Directed by Grant Malcolm, with Movement Direction by Connie Wetherilt and Sound and Musical Direction by Chris McRae, this thought-provoking production explores power, privilege and social convention. Set in a farming district of western New South Wales in 1912, the story follows a rigid matriarchal community whose imitation of English society unravels during an outbreak of “holy fire”, a madness caused by a wheat fungus. A compelling piece of Australian theatre history, Inside the Island is a must-see for drama lovers.
