When Will You Listen to Me explores Nazerul Ben-Dzulkefli’s experience growing up as an ethnic minority, indigenous to the Malay Archipelago where Singapore, his home country, is situated.
Nazerul’s new body of ceramic work takes the pressures he experienced from his cultural, religious, and state-driven pressures as a starting point, and translates them into hand built medicinal jars decorated with classical Malay Language and Mandarin literary aphorisms that encapsulate his endeavour to heal psycho-social trauma.
During exhibitions, the Zig Zag Gallery is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 4pm on weekends and public holidays.
