Numbat Trail

Half Day
12 km
loop
Class 3
Dogs Prohibited

Prepare for the ultimate hiking challenge on the Numbat Trail at Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary. With steep ascents, descents, and a series of stairs, this trail pushed you to your limits, but the reward is nothing short of spectacular. Set aside a half day to hike, pause, breathe and capture the breathtaking views.

The Numbat Trail shared its path with the Quenda Trail, but with an optional spur loop for those seeking an even more thrilled adventure. If the going gets tough, you can always skip the loop and head back via the Quenda Trail.

As you hike, you’ll find great spots to stop and enjoy the views, passing through beautiful woodlands and seeing stunning granite rocks, colourful flowers, and wildflowers like donkey orchids and pink fairies. The views stretch across the Avon River Valley, the East-West Railway line, and Paruna George.

The spur loop offers a change in scenery with open parkland and amazing views of the Avon River Rapids. Watch for birds like tiny blue wrens and soaring eagles.

Paruna Sanctuary is open to the public from May to October and is closed from November to April. It is located on Clenton Rd in Gidgegannup.

Entry fees apply.
