Geodes are spherical rocks – some up to 44 million years old – that contain hollow cavities lined with beautiful crystals, but, until now, getting at the ‘treasure’ inside the rocks could be daunting. Luckily the new cracker makes splitting geode rocks a breeze.
The machine operates by turning a ship’s wheel which, in turn applies pressure to the rock through a tightening chain belt and splits the geode rock in half. If you don’t have a geode handy, the shop has a selection of exotic specimens direct from Mexico and Morocco.
