The Yam Trail is a 1.3km one directional gravel bush trail thorough Lloyd Hughes Park in Kelmscott. The trail heads south through marri and wandoo woodland with a small watercourse, a tributary to the Canning River, along the trail. This scenic trail is moderatley steep in sections.

Covering the lower section of Lloyd Hughes Park, the trail traces around a small gully with central damplands with a stream flowing through during the winter and spring months of June to October.

Lloyd Hughes Park is popular for wildflower spotting through the winter and spring months, July to November. The park is also popular for birdwatching. The park has previously been mined for shale with remnants still visible along the trail.

Information on the trail and the park can be found on signage at the Trailhead on Martin Street near the corner of Marmion Street, with parking available along the verge of Marmion Street. Scan the QR Code on the sign for a map of the two trails within the park. Walk the trail in an anti-clockwise direction to help reduce the spread of Phytophthora Dieback by using the bootcleaning stations provided along the trail.
