Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary | Quenda Trail Guided Hike

The Hike Collective

Join the adventure through one of Perth’s most underrated private sanctuaries. This moderate 6.5 km hiking tour will take you through the magnificence of Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary, which in itself is an important connection between Walyunga National Park and the Avon Valley National Park. Hike along the western margin of the 2.5 billion-year-old ancient granite landform, the ‘Yilgarn Block’.

This picturesque sanctuary is often characterised by its extremely steep slopes, numerous streams and creek lines, and areas of exposed granite. Don’t let the steep slopes fool you though, as this impeccably kept hiking hot-spot has steps-a-plenty, and gorgeous views.

Named after the cute marsupial, the Quenda Trail is cute compared to its big brother, the Numbat Trail, and is a great introduction to a more ‘hilly’ adventure, while seeing truly breathtaking views across the valley, as you make you way through Wandoo woodlands, and weaving through stunning paperbarks.

Before calling it a day, take a peek at the heritage-listed John Forrest Cairn, standing tall as part of the original survey expedition of the area undertaken by John Forrest in 1879.

This hike is not for the faint-hearted! This detailed and well-maintained trail will surely provide all trail seekers with a spectacular and challenging hiking experience, and worth every step. Guaranteed.
