We all know the early bird gets the worm so hit the road early to get the most out of your Perth Hills day trip. Head to the famed Araluen Botanic Park — a place rich in both history and beauty and known for its iconic annual Tulip Festival which lights up the stunning bushland backdrop with a kaleidoscope of colour and more than 170,000 tulips. Not to mention 40,000 spring bulbs, an international camellia collection, and heritage roses in full bloom. This is made possible by the park’s unique micro-climate and loam soils which provide an opportunity to cultivate exotic and cool climate plants, resulting in exquisite gardens all year round. Alternatively, if you’d prefer a guided experience , Off The Beaten Track has some excellent options.

The carefully curated menu nods to sustainability and locality, with dishes crafted with the fruit and vegetables grown in the one acre garden and 90-year-old orchard. Expect to enjoy haricot bean and broccoli risotto, line-caught rankin cod, and berbere spiced pumpkin and Berkshire pork, paired with matching wines. It’s also the picture-perfect winery for a photo opportunity.

Adorned with lush greenery and gorgeous blooms in spring, apples and auburn tones in autumn, stone fruit varieties in summer, and citrus in winter. Here, you can swing in for an artisan cider tasting at the cellar door and enjoy farm-to-table fare. While you’re there, check out the grand deck of the Orchard Bistro and Harvest Room which boast spectacular 180-degree views of the orchard and surrounding forest.
