Are you ready for an exhilarating winter or spring adventure? Look no further than Gooseberry Hill National Park, nestled in the scenic Perth Hills of Kalamunda. This hidden gem offers a captivating trail showcasing nature’s splendour and a glimpse into the region’s rich history.

The Statham’s Quarry Trail is known for its reasonably strenuous path, featuring a few loose stony sections. While it may require some effort, the rewards are well worth it. Prepare to be amazed by the awe-inspiring views that await you at various vantage points along the way.

As you make your way through the trail, keep an eye out for the vibrant wildflowers that burst into bloom during spring. These magnificent displays of colour add an extra touch of magic to your journey, making it an unforgettable sight.

One of the highlights of this trail is the opportunity to discover the now-disused Statham’s Quarry. As you explore the remnants of this historic site, you’ll gain insights into the quarrying industry that once thrived in the area. Let your imagination transport you back in time as you envision the bustling activity that once took place within these rugged surroundings.

Another fascinating feature of this trail is the remnants of the Zig Zag railway, which was built to transport timber from the hills to Midland Junction. While the railway is no longer in use, its traces remind us of the region’s industrial past. Take a moment to appreciate the ingenuity and engineering marvel behind this now-silent relic.

Please note that dogs are not permitted on this trail, ensuring the preservation and safety of the natural environment.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a nature enthusiast seeking a new experience, this trail offers a captivating blend of scenic vistas, wildflower wonders, and a glimpse into the past.
