Spring has something delicious in store in 2026. For the first time, the Slow Food Festival is coming to Mundaring – and best of all, it’s free
So what’s ‘slow food’, you may ask? Well, it’s basically the antidote to fast food. The global movement champions local food, plus traditional wholesome cooking and sustainable farming. This food is made with care, by passionate growers, artisans and chefs.

Happening under the gum trees at Mundaring Sculpture Park on Sunday 18 October (11am to 5pm), the inaugural festival promises to be packed with soul-nourishing foodie goodness. Wander between the stalls, chat with passionate local makers, as you discover their handcrafted food, wine and spirits.

Throughout the day talented cooks and chefs will take to the stage for live cooking demonstrations, where’ you’ll be close enough to the action to soak up the aromas. Sit in on educational workshops and presentations, hear from guest speakers and industry experts who are shaping the way we think about what we eat. Plus, there will be family-friendly activities throughout the day, making it an event the whole family can enjoy.

If you can’t wait, book your spot at the Slow Food Festival Inaugural Dinner on 16 October. Plating up slow dishes on the night will be Slow Food champion Chef Vincenzo Velletri, Baan Baan’s Chef Wanwipar ‘Dao’ Thanasothorn, Joanne Colijn-Dew (formerly Café Mojo), The FLACKYARD’s Em and Nik Flack (Vue de Monde, Wildflower), Chef Daniel Lyndon of Bimba Foods and Chef Tyrell Stoodley from The Lounge at Amaroo – for seven courses, seven stories and one very tasty table at The Hub of the Hills.

The timing is perfect for art lovers, as the festival is being held on the same day as the Mundaring Hills Open Studios, so it’s easy to enjoy a little art too. You’ll need to book your free ticket for the Slow Food Festival Mundaring ahead of time here.
