What’s on in the season of Djilba
August to September
Djilba, the season of Conception shows a transitional period with a mix of cold, warm, rainy, and windy days. Traditional Aboriginal life adapted to these changes, continuing to rely on land-based animals like yonga (kangaroo), weitj (emu), and koomal (possum) as primary food sources. Djilba’s name reflects the arrival of baby animals and the protective behaviour of birds like koolbardi (magpie), djidi djidi (willie wagtails), and wattle birds.
