Burundian history is little-known, with stories and artefacts largely held in colonial institutions that are often inaccessible to the people they belong to. Through images of archived and modern-day Burundian dancers, this exhibition sheds light on this history and brings the gallery space to life with bright colours, evocative of the excitement that comes with hearing feet hit the earth in dance. Absorbing and immersive, the artist invites viewers to see the boundaries of Burundian Traditional clothing and dance through projected imagery, vibrant prints and collage.
