Explore Lake Leschenaultia this Perth Hills WanderFest

By now, you will have heard about the inaugural Perth Hills WanderFest that’s happening this September. Five guided hike series will be happening over the five regions of the Perth Hills. Let’s take a deeper dive on what you can expect from the Perth Hills WanderFest event in Mundaring!

If you’re looking for a gentle, nature-filled adventure that’s accessible for all, mark your calendar for the Perth Hills WanderFest Accessible Hike at Lake Leschenaultia. Off The Beaten Track WA will be leading these guided hikes, happening over four days, during the King’s Birthday long weekend (26-29 September).

About the Guided Hike

This stunning Perth Hills spot is known for its clear lake, shady trees, and laid-back bushland vibes. Off The Beaten Track WA will be heading out on a relaxed, fully guided 3km loop around the lake. The trail is beginner-friendly, flat and wide, making it ideal for walkers of all ages and abilities, including those using prams, wheelchairs and walking aids. There are plenty of benches along the trail, to take a rest too. Carers/support person tickets are free.

You’ll wander under towering gums and past springtime wildflowers like the striking Blue Lechenaultia that gives the lake its name. Bird lovers, be sure to bring your binoculars! You might spot fairy-wrens, red-capped parrots, or even a black cockatoo. You’ll be sure to learn all about the lake, as well as see remnants of the past along the way.

You’ll finish your hike lakeside, with a wholesome and delicious morning tea from local legends The Flackseed, thanks to support from the Shire of Mundaring.

Also happening at Lake Leschenaultia during Perth Hills WanderFest – the vibrant Chidlow Farmers Markets as well as a special drop-in workshop hosted by Mundaring Arts Centre, popping up for two days (Sat 27 and Sun 28 September).
