Put on your stretchy pants! We think the Perth Hills make the perfect destination for a weekend drive in winter – especially on a Sunday. That’s because it’s the best day to explore a market, or trail and finish with a classic Sunday roast, with all the trimmings. Sit inside by a cosy fireplace or soak up the winter rays in a beer garden.

Mount Helena Tavern is a top spot to get cosy with a Sunday roast. Think succulent slow-cooked meat, served with seasonal veggies, corn on the cob, roasties and a Yorkshire pudding. Don’t forget the gravy! Tucking into a hearty Sunday roast in their beer garden or by the fireplace is the best way to end the weekend.

Sunday roast season is well underway at the Kalamunda Hotel. Be sure to indulge in a delicious roast dinner, complete with giant Yorkshire pudding, available all day, every Sunday until sold out. Dig in by the fireplace, or in the beer garden – you choose. We can’t think of a better reason to treat ourselves this Sunday.

A Sunday roast is quintessentially English, and you can’t get much more English than the Tudor-themed Last Drop Elizabethan. The Bedfordale favourite gives you all those British pub feels, especially on a grey and wintry day in the leafy Perth Hills! The Lizzy’s traditional Sunday roasts are served in an epic plate-sized Yorkshire pud, and are available from lunchtime until sold out – so be sure to book early.

After a morning treading the Jarrahdale trails, The Jarrahdale Tavern is a great spot for refuelling with a tasty roast on Sundays. Served up for lunch, and dinner (until sold out), you can expect a warming plate of roast meat, veggies, mash and gravy. The roast meat changes occasionally, but we hear that their roast pork is a favourite, served with tasty crispy crackle.

Found in the heart of Mundaring, the historic Mundaring Hotel has many nooks to sit and enjoy a Sunday lunch. Relax in the beer garden or dine in the restaurant and enclosed conservatory where you’ll find locals sipping house-made mulled wine by the roaring log fires. Sunday roasts (their succulent meats rotate each week) are available every Sunday from 11.30am, all day until sold out.

Sunday roast dinners are back for winter at Avocados! $20 will get you a hearty meal with lashings of rich gravy at the beautiful riverside bar and bistro. Served from 5pm on Sundays, gather a group and be sure to book your table soon.

Byford’s bustling brewery FOUND Lab. is serving up a sensational Sunday roast this winter. Devour slow-cooked meat (chicken, pork or beef), roast potatoes, pumpkin, broccolini, and sweet potato puree, which you can smother in gravy. We think the tasty dish is best washed down with one of their brilliant craft ales; the roasts are available all day until sold out.

Love Sunday comfort eats? The Parkerville Tavern has plate-sized Yorkshire puds filled with roast meat, veggies, all the trimmings and generous amounts of gravy. Enjoy a meal by the fireplace, or outside in the Parky’s heated conservatory. Oh, and be sure to save room for a wintry dessert.

To beat those Sunday blues, Mundaring wine bar Hemingway & Co serves up a feast from noon to 6pm every Sunday. Indulge in tender roast beef, served with classic sides like peas, potatoes, cauliflower cheese, rich gravy, and of course a Yorkie! Treat yourself to a cocktail while you’re there.

Uncover true blue Aussie hospitality at Noble Falls Tavern. Overlooking the scenic Noble Falls Reserve, this Gidgegannup pub plates up a Sunday roast that’s best enjoyed by their roaring fireplaces. The laid-back tavern has an authentic country atmosphere, with warm vibes and even warmer log burners – you don’t want to miss it.
