Journey along Djarlgarro (Canning River). Follow traditional paths of the Whadjuk Noongar people who used the rivers to move between seasonal food sources. View the Cascades where the river runs over beautiful rock formations.

Roley Pools has been used as a local swimming hole for many years and is part of Roleystone folklore. The walk along the river’s edge encompasses a variety of terrain such as giant Granite and Dolerite outcrops.

A wide and diverse range of wildlife can be found in and around this section of the river, with many native ducks, kingfishers, Quenda, kangaroos, wallabies, several species of fish, snakes, lizards and Australia’s only native water rat, “Rakali” residing there.

The Heritage Walk Trail can be accessed from the Cascade Car Park on Thompson Road or from Heritage Drive, Roleystone.

This 3.2 kilometre trail can be added to the Roley Pools Boardwalk Trail to create a 5.8km return trail.

Information regarding this and other trails along this section of the Canning River can be accessed here or pick up a brochure from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre.
