Skip to contentTake the Boardwalk Trail along Djarlgarro (Canning River) following the traditional paths of the Whadjuk Noongar people who used the rivers to move between seasonal food sources.
Treat yourself to a 5 minute detour down to Nature’s Spa where water trickles across the large flat granite rocks and collects in small circular pools.
Access to the Boardwalk Trail is available from either Soldiers Road or the Thompson Road carparks.
A wide and diverse range of wildlife can be found in and around the river, with many native ducks, kingfishers, Quenda, kangaroos, wallabies, several species of fish, snakes, lizards and Australia’s only native water rat, “Rakali” residing there.
Information regarding this and other trails along this section of the Canning River can be accessed here or pick up a brochure from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre.

Welcome to Gaada-moorn-da Katamunda, also known as the beautiful Perth Hills
Perth Hills Tourism Alliance acknowledge the Noongar people of the Boodja, the land on which we stand, work and play. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people as First Nation People and their connection to the lands and the waters, as they are part of them spiritually and culturally. We acknowledge their ancestors, the Elders past and present, who have led the way for us to follow in their footsteps and the emerging leaders of today and tomorrow.
