What’s NEW in the Perth Hills this November

It’s November – that sweet spot in the Perth Hills calendar when the wildflowers are still blooming, the creeks are trickling and the weather is sunny, but not too warm. See out spring with new things to do across the region, from a refreshed beer garden at a heritage tavern and brand-new playground equipment at a beloved picnic spot, to WA’s newest outdoor sculpture park, an open studios trail through the Armadale hills and a new mountain bike hire operation on the doorstep of a trail town. There’s plenty of reasons to make the drive up the hill and soak up the last weeks of spring.

MUNDARING
The Parkerville Tavern is a heritage-listed spot with wood-fired pizzas, live music and one of the region’s most popular beer gardens. The shady outdoor space is now even better, with a refreshed beer garden and upgraded kid’s playground making it an easy afternoon for families. Pull up a chair at The Parky, let the kids run loose and work your way through the menu. Find out more.

Western Australia’s newest outdoor arts destination, Perth Sky Sculpture Park, opens 1 November at the Perth Observatory. Wander a 1.2km trail around 60 large-scale contemporary sculptures set amongst Bickley bushland and the historic astronomy domes. The collection is created by a mix of Perth Hills, WA, Interstate and International artists which rotates every two years – so every visit will be a little bit different. Tickets are available through their website and include entry to the observatory museum. Find out more.

ARMADALE
From 6 to 15 November, local Armadale artists will be opening their studio doors for the self-guided Armadale Hills Open Studio Arts Trail, running 10am to 4pm each day. The trail takes in a wide range of art mediums and creative spaces in the Armadale hills – grab a map and keep your eyes peeled for the banners as you make your way between studios. Be sure to make a stop or two at local cafes and eateries along the route too and make a day of it. Find out more.
