Mundaring Region
The Parkerville Tavern
One of our favourites has to be the extra family friendly Parkerville Tavern. This grand old pub has oodles of charm and stacks of things for kids to do. The Parky’s shady beer garden is perfect on a sunny day, with a huge playground for the kids to roam and explore. Add the resident animals and a yummy menu into the mix and you’ve got a venue that is guaranteed to entertain the kids for hours.

Café Mojo, Mundaring
Found under a huge tree, Café Mojo is perfect for a coffee catch up on a fine day, as most of its seating is found in the shady garden area. Here there’s large tables, as well as a sandpit play area with a fun mud kitchen to keep toddlers busy. Adults will love the wholesome menu, and a kids’ menu features crowd-pleasers that even the pickiest little eaters will enjoy.

Mount Helena Tavern
Feeling active? The Mount Helena Tavern sits right on the iconic Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, a popular spot for a family bike ride or walk. Their train themed playground is a nod to the area’s steam train history. The charming Mount Helena Tavern has cosy lounge areas perfect for a chilly Perth Hills day. There’s colouring in, and a tasty kid’s menu – they’ll love the mini smash burgers!

The Flackseed, Chidlow
Found by Lake Leschenaultia’s train playground, The Flackseed kiosk offers up takeaway coffee and eats with a gourmet twist – house-made ‘AUSage rolls” (a mix of beef and kangaroo with 5 hidden veggies), nourish bowls, plus ice creams with homemade ice magic. After hours of riding bikes, and playing on the beach, nothing beats their hot chips dusted with house-made seasoning.

Mundaring Weir Hotel
After working up an appetite, exploring the historical Mundaring Weir, a trip to the Mundaring Weir Hotel is always a good idea. The century-old pub has huge gardens to bask in. Spy the giraffe’s head peering out from the bushes, where kids can seek out a shady children’s playground, hidden behind the stage.

Kalamunda Region
Core Cider, Pickering Brook
The super family-friendly Core Cider is found between Kalamunda and Roleystone. Set among bushland and orchards, there’s acres of lawn for kids to explore, plus a fun nature playground featuring an old tractor, and play equipment. There’s two dining options – the casual Cider Garden with charcuterie boxes, burgers and pizzas, or the Orchard Bistro with an elevated dining experience. Throughout the year, Core hosts family-friendly events including school holiday activities, tractor rides, and seasonal fruit picking.

Masonmill, Carmel
Masonmill packs in mini golf, a playground, Irish beer garden and stunning rose gardens. The bustling restaurant offers tasty dining with pram access, colouring sheets, highchairs, and terrace seating overlooking beautiful gardens and bushland. Families can enjoy the fully fenced playground with cubby house. The mini golf course provides fun challenges for all ages, and kids can feed the koi in the pond. Don’t miss the hidden French Gardens behind the restaurant with pathways and secret nooks – perfect for exploring with your little cherubs!

Elevated Grounds Coffee House, Kalamunda
Elevated Grounds Coffee House, in the heart of Kalamunda, offers cheery service and a play corner to entertain little ones. There’s plenty of seating inside, or in the courtyard, with highchairs available for babies and toddlers. Cabinets are brimming with cakes, biscuits, gourmet rolls, quiches and more. The small play corner features toys, books, puzzles and a play kitchen. Families can grab a takeaway coffee and walk to nearby Stirk Park or explore the Kalamunda Fairy Door Trail along Haynes Street.

Yvette’s Place, Pickering Brook
Yvette’s Place is a haven for parents, found in the old Pickering Brook General Store. As well as super cute babycinos, kids will love the dedicated “Pickering Brook Play Nook”; walk into the giant cubby to find toys, a play kitchen, books and more. The menu caters well to the whole family, with tasty burgers and breakfast options, while the cabinet offers tempting cakes and biscuits.

Armadale Region
Naked Apple, Karragullen
At Naked Apple Cider, the kiddos can explore the extensive gardens and a shady playground. Parents can sip craft ciders and tuck into tasty meals on the deck or in the cosy cottage. The kid’s menu has plenty to tempt little ones, plus there are colouring sheets and school holidays activities. Highchairs are available for the smallest visitors.

Coffee at the Shed at Raeburn Orchard, Roleystone
This cute coffee spot, in Raeburn Orchard’s packing shed, is great for a cuppa and a scrumptious slice of cake. Coffee at the Shed has plenty of freshly made goodies in their cabinet, including savory options for lunch. Why not grab a takeaway and enjoy a picnic in the orchard (a small entry fee applies).

Brook 508 Cafe & Restaurant, Roleystone
Brook 508 Cafe & Restaurant is a treasure, housed in a charming old building on Brookton Highway. The eatery is just a hop, skip and jump from Araluen Botanic Park and the easy Roley Pools Walk Trail. Kiddos can spot colourful birds from the back veranda. A play area with toys and books will keep little ones busy, while parents sip their coffee in peace.

Avocados, Kelmscott
Love smashed avo? You’ll definitely find this brunch favourite on the menu at the leafy Avocados! Set in the foothills, on the banks of the Canning River, this is a very pretty spot for a family breakfast or lunch. There are loads of tables for groups with strollers, plus a fully fenced and gated playground which is shaded by trees and shade sails.

Serpentine-Jarrahdale Region
Jarrahdale Tavern
After exploring the Jarrahdale Trails, put your feet up at the local pub. There’s plenty of dining spaces for all seasons at the Jarrahdale Tavern. The beer garden playground for children to enjoy, while the bar boasts an impressive log fire, which roars alongside the pool table in winter months.

Bistro by The Dam, Serpentine
The lovely Bistro by the Dam is perched high above Serpentine Dam, with a nature playground right next door. Enjoy a cuppa and bite on the veranda with beautiful water views through the gumtrees, where friendly birds might even join you. The menu offers breakfast and lunch favourites, with excellent coffee and creamy milkshakes. Be sure to take a 10-minute walk down to the Dam – a great chance for kids to see where our water comes from.

FOUND LAB, Byford
FOUND LAB, in the Perth foothills, makes a great stop for families visiting nearby attractions like Serpentine Falls. This spacious brewery has a greenhouse vibe with lush hanging plants, huge windows and lakeside views. Adults can enjoy craft beers while kids are entertained with colouring sheets, board games and a shaded sandpit. The menu offers quality pub grub including rave-worthy buttermilk fried chicken. Kids are catered for with yummy dishes, made from quality ingredients.

Gidgegannup Region
Cherith Grove Cafe, Gidgegannup
Just 2kms from Noble Falls, Cherith Grove cafe is found amongst a working olive grove. Families can explore the grounds, stroll by the peaceful dam, spot the retired olive crusher, and say g’day to the resident donkeys who just love a gentle head-scratch. Kids are catered for with a book and toy corner, plus highchairs. The cafe is known for its organic olive oil, breakfast favourites, house-baked treats and woodfired pizzas.

Gidgegannup Bakery
Exploring Noble Falls? Tuck into a freshly baked take away at the charming Gidgegannup Bakery!
