Eric and Lucy are the owners of La Fattoria Perth Hills and you are welcome to their home. They are a family of Sicilian and British heritage that has resided on the property since 1945. Currently three generations live and work on the 25 acre orchard.
La Fattoria has become an interpretation of the philosophy of giving people a chance to share both the Sicilian heritage and the beauty of the property that nestles in Pickering Brook in the Perth Hills.
The vineyard was a originally commercial orchard producing stone fruit, apples, and pears for over 70 years. In 2012, five acres of orchard were cleared and planted with eleven Italian grape varieties. Some of the material for planting was sourced from the Western Australian Vine Improvement Association’s museum block and represents one of the few commercial plantings of these varieties. With such small parcels of fruit, La Fattoria’s wines are very much at the niche/boutique end of the wine spectrum and vintages sell out quickly.
There are two dining experiences at La Fattoria – Nonna’s Family Table and Pick-A-Platter. The Nonna’s Family Table Experience is trattoria style; a trattoria is a family run establishment without an al la carte menu, but rather a fixed menu of a series of seasonal dishes shared at the table typical of an Italian family meal.
