Winter is behind us for another year and it’s time to celebrate spring! This month, we’re looking forward to a little sunshine to bask amongst the wildflowers, tulips and blossom found throughout the Perth Hills.
September is the perfect time to hit the Perth Hills trails – still lush from a very wet winter, but sunny enough to enjoy a stroll. From iconic flower festivals, to super cute workshops, a brand-new fine diner, and more, the Perth Hills have plenty of things to experience this spring.
Plus, Perth Hills WanderFest is happening THIS month! Be sure to grab your tickets to this exciting trails series event, held over the King’s Birthdays long weekend, here.
Here’s our round up of things to experience in the Perth Hills this September.
GIDGEGANNUP
Sip, paint and pat at Bailup Farm! Join a painting workshop (Sunday 7 September) for a fun class over a drink or two, then meet, cuddle and feed the resident Highland cows and friendly farm animals. We hear that these furry beauties love to be brushed! These workshops are for adults and kids aged 14 and over (workshops just for children are coming soon). No experience necessary, just bring a sense of fun. Find out more here.

MUNDARING
Join Nyoongar artist, Sharyn Egan at her drop-in workshop at Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow on Sunday 28 September, as part of the Perth Hills WanderFest 2025, to create a Boorongur, or “totem”. Participants are invited to consider a plant or animal of importance to them and create a raffia and wool sculpture in response. Sit lake side and enjoy all that WanderFest has to offer whilst connecting with Nyoongar culture on beautiful Boodja. This free event is proudly brought to you by Mundaring Arts Centre. Find out more here.

KALAMUNDA
The famous S&R Orchard Blossom Festival is back this spring! S&R will be swinging open their gates from September 12 for frolicking amongst the fruit tree flowers. Be sure to bring a picnic and enjoy photos amongst the pretty pink props. Kids will enjoy meeting the friendly farm animals and taking tractor rides, plus food trucks will be on site. Be sure to book parking online if you visit on a weekend. Find out more here.

ARMADALE
The Spring into Araluen It’s Yates Springtime festival is in full swing! The botanic park’s Chalet Healy Cafe has opened up for another season of delicious morning teas and lunches overlooking thousands of colourful tulips. There’s plenty to enjoy on the new dine in menu, or why not order a take away pizza to devour on the manicured lawns? Be sure to swing by the Roundhouse Café for a take away coffee and fresh grab and go deli bites.

SERPENTINE JARRAHDALE
The Perth Hills WanderFest trails series is happening throughout the regions on the Kings Birthday long weekend (26-29 September). The SJ guided hike is for seasoned hikers! The advanced hike, with The Hike Collective, is along the stunning Kitty’s Gorge Trail (16km return). Push the limits, tackle rugged terrain, steep climbs, and long stretches of uninterrupted wilderness, all leading to the breathtaking Serpentine Falls. Book your spot (just $30pp/$10 kids) and find out more here.

Be sure to enjoy something new in the Perth Hills this month – they’re closer than you think!
