It’s July and we’re already well into winter! Here in the Perth Hills, we’ve been enjoying getting out of the office and taking a bushwalk or three. This month, we’re wishing for lots of heavy downpours to get those last few winter waterfalls started (we’re looking at you, National Park Falls!).
July is when the Perth Hills comes alive with that unmistakable aroma of fresh rain mixed with gum leaves, lush green valleys, cosy fireplaces and more. If you have kiddos enjoying down time in the school holidays, we have got a super cute new animal experience for families. GIDGEGANNUP
Love a Highland Cow? These shaggy ginger beauties are the star of Bailup Farm! Found just beyond Gidgegannup’s Noble Falls, Bailup Farm offers hands on farm tours where you can get up close and personal with cows, miniature donkeys, cheeky goats, alpacas and curious sheep. Brush, pat and feed the friendly farm animals – or you can even paint one! Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming paint and sip classes and more exciting events at Bailup Farm. MUNDARING
Hit the trails on two wheels with Hillside Cycles! New to Glen Forrest, Hillside Cycles is your one stop mountain bike shop – even if you don’t have a bike. The good news is that you can hire mountain bikes here. The bike shop is found opposite the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail – easily connecting you to all the Mundaring region’s villages and attractions, plus the thrilling Goat Farm trail network is close by.

KALAMUNDA
Bring the kids to Kalamunda these school holidays! Kalamunda is THE place for school holiday fun – whether you like to spend time in nature, or are escaping the weather with an indoor activity. Faire has a ton of amazing art workshops, take a tour at Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, an out of this world experience at Perth Observatory, and family friendly trail adventures with the Bibbulmun Track Foundation. ARMADALE
A new production is opening at Roleystone Theatre this month. Be sure to grab tickets to see Terry Pratchett’s Men at Arms, a play based on the popular fantasy novel in the Discworld series. Ankh-Morpork City Night Watch find their services are once more needed to tackle a new threat to their city, after previously defeating a 60-foot dragon. Shows begin on Friday July 18, bookings are essential.

SERPENTINE-JARRAHDALE
Brand new to Millbrook Winery is a very special gourmet event, featuring incredible seasonal produce from their estate garden and that black gold… TRUFFLES! The inaugural Millbrook Long Table Truffle Lunch will begin with canapés in the cellar door, followed by an indulgent four-course seated lunch upstairs, in their nationally acclaimed restaurant. The menu, crafted by Head Chef Gino Pannunzio, will feature exquisite Smithbrook truffles perfectly paired with Millbrook wines. Bookings are essential.
